Casco Viejo (1-3 hrs)

Casco Viejo is the old city centre of Panama. Enjoy a drink, meal, stroll or nightlife in the cultural ambience of this 17th century old city undergoing restoration. You’ll find chic restaurants, nightlife spots and boutique hotels in beautiful restored historical buildings.


Tantalo Hotel, rooftop bar (1-2 hrs)

In the old centre of Panama City are several rooftop terraces. Our favourite is located at the 4th floor of Tantalo Hotel.

The bar is open every day from 5 pm. At quiet nights it closes at 10 pm and weekends at 3 am. During weekends there are DJ's playing music.

Restaurant Manolo Caracol (2-3 hrs)

One of the most distinctive restaurants in Panama City is Manolo Caracol in Casco Viejo. The restaurant has no menu. Every day there is a new tasting menu with 8 or 9 courses for $42,50.

And if you like to drink a good glass of wine with your menu, they offer an extensive wine cellar in a climate-controlled room.

Daily 26 Restaurant (1-2 hrs)

The restaurant with one of the best views in town is Daily 26 Restaurant at the 26th floor of the Royal Sonesta Hotel at Calle Ricardo Arias in the banking district of Panama City.

You can go there for lunch, dinner, a drink or just a coffee. You will get stunning views and unfortunately you can’t sit outside. There are two balconies, but those are the smoking sections of the restaurant. Even if you don’t smoke, do go there to get the best view from the top.

Multi Plaza Shopping Mall (2 hrs)

The place to be in Panama for your or high-end shopping is Multi Plaza Shopping Mall. All mayor brands have a boutique in this huge mall. And huge it is, so bring your walking shoes.

It is located in the centre at Avenida Balboa adjacent to the banking and hotel area. It is a multi-storied complex of impressive architecture, incorporating a large casino and the Decapolis hotel.

The mall opens every day at 10 am and closes at 8 pm on weekdays, 9 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 7 pm on Sunday.

Multicentro Shopping Mall (2-3 hrs)

A bit older and smaller shopping mall than Multi Plaza is Multicentro Shopping Mall. It is located in the newly developed and fashionable area of Punta Pacifica.

Its shops include the likes of Tiffany, Cartier, Luis Vuitton, and a Mac Store. It also has a movie theatre, several restaurants, and an adjacent hotel. The address is Vía Israel, San Francisco, Panama City.

Mercado de Mariscos (1 hr)

The Mercado de Mariscos is the fish market between Cinta Costera (the promenade walk) and Casco Viejo (the old city). The market is open every day except the 3rd Monday of each month when it is closed completely for thorough cleaning.

It's the perfect place to buy fresh fish in Panama City and it is one of the best places in town to try the tasteful and most affordable ceviche. You can go there for lunch or early dinner.

Restaurant Finca del Mar (1-2 hrs)

Another wonderful restaurant in the old centre of Panama City is Finca del Mar. This place is located in a lovely garden with nice sea views.

You can order mouth-watering fish dishes from the menu and for fish haters they have some meat dishes as well. The restaurant is open every day for dinner and the address is 8-66 Calle Primera.

Capital Bistro Panama (1-2 hrs)

A restaurant and bar with a beautiful terrace with sea view is Capital Bistro Panama. From the rooftop terrace you can watch the skyline of new Panama City and the sea while enjoying a lovely drink during sunset.

You will find this place at Calle Principal, Urbanizacion San Felipe, local 1 in Casco Antiguo, the old city centre.
